The first ever transfer involving Bitcoin as a payment method has been completed, with amateur Turkish football team Harunustaspor signing 22-year old Omer Faruk Kiroglu for 0.0524 Bitcoin until end of season.
Harunustaspor’s Chairman, Haldun Şehit declared that the move was a first of its kind by any sports club.
It paid the player 0.0524 in bitcoin (£384.12 at the time) and 2,500 Turkish lira (£467.30).
This is a first in Turkey and the world, we are proud of this achievement and know it will raise our profile here, internationally and among the (Bitcoin) community.

Cryptocurrencies are becoming increasingly popular with many people looking to escape from traditional modes of payment.
They allow you make payments directly between two parties without involving banks or other financial institutions in the process, which means there’s no need for them hold your money while it takes several days before being transferred elsewhere – this also cuts down on any fees associated (such higher interest rates).
Transactions remain secure thanks to encryption technology so nobody except those involved can view them.
