The Bradford City chairman confirmed on Friday that a bid had been made by WAGMI United group, who were reported to be seeking purchase with cryptocurrency – the online trading currency.

The US company was planning to use non-fungible tokens (NFTs) – a unique and irreplaceable unit of data stored on the blockchain as well as an innovative new model for sports club ownership.

Chairman Stefan Rupp has announced that he has rejected the offer, saying that his most important responsibility is to “protect and safeguard” Bradford’s long-term future.

It is right and correct it be known that I have acted properly throughout my short dealings with WAGMI United LLC and rejected their proposed deal to protect the proud history of Bradford City AFC.

The original report in the Washington Post had said that WAGMI United’s aim is to complete their purchase of an EFL club in the next month.
